It is tempting to see our ancestors and predecessors as living fruit-fly lives between wars and social upheavals, trapped at the same time in the pre-internet amber of communications by post and news delivery via paperboy. Vintage Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio
Mid Ohio Sports Car Course - June 21 - 23,
In our modern chaotic world where it is often difficult to feel grounded, arriving to The Mid-Ohio Vintage Grand Prix is like being a bright-eyed kid opening presents, surrounded by smiling family on a meaningful holiday. You have arrived. The red roofs and entryway contrast with the surrounding lush green trees and the party has started. Oddly enough Vintage Racing at Mid-Ohio is the perfect spectator sport for everyone from retired baby-boomer tinkerers to millennial smart-phone wielding tech geeks, and even their significant others. Others are walking around the sea of sports cars in the infield car show, pointing at the new races happening every half-hour all day long, and waving to the drivers on their cool down lap to show their appreciation.

A group of Corvairs rounds the tricky fifth corner. Two-point-four miles of winding racetrack known as Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course falls over the dewy green hills out here in Lexington, Ohio. The car had a reputation as a giant-killer due to its ability to triumph over cars with far more power. The Lotus is low and light, allowing it to corner faster than many of its contemporaries. The Lotus 23B can hold its own against sports racers of the time, but the horsepower Ferrari F1 further down in the paddock is a different story, though.
